The hollow mask takes the form of five tear shaped shards that are scattered two under each eye and one on his chin. His hollow holes is located on the palm of his right hand. *See Innate Ability

Personality:

Aziraphale is depressed at all times, and will often sigh before speaking, as if the effort itself was too much for him. He is usually respectful of those around him, however does not have many close friends. He dislikes fighting, and will often try to avoid fights or end them very quickly. However, he will always obey the orders of a superior. The only time he seems to be happy is when consuming another hollow, or when talking to his ravens. On and interesting note it sometimes appears that he has trouble killing anyone with a look close to that of his former wife.

History:

Aziraphale was born a very long time ago in southern France. He actually led a very happy life as a farmer, and got along well with all his neighbors, and in general life was good, especially for that time. He got married when he was 21 to a girl from a neighboring farm. She was beautiful, and he greatly enjoyed her company, spending all his time with her. He fell deeply in love, and she too returned his feelings.

However, it had to end. Five years after they got married, they were both in the market selling their produce and buying other goods. It was a beautiful day, and Aziraphale spent much of the time staring at his beautiful wife. However, another man named John had seen the beautiful wife, and wanted her for himself. He had tried several times to trick her away, but her love for her husband was steadfast. However, he was a powerful man and not to be trifled with. When it became apparent that he could not have her, he order that she be killed. And it was now that it happened. A horse reared, and bolted. Aziraphale watched as his wife was trampled to death.

It sent him spiraling into grief. His farm fell into ruin, and he was practically driven into insanity, his whole mind and body consumed in the sadness. When he learned of the man’s actions, he went into a rage. He hunted him down, and finally found him in a remote home on the coast. He watched, and waited. Finally, seeing his chance he stole into the home, and killed the man in his sleep. Realizing he had nothing left to live for, Aziraphale took his own life.

The sheer amount of grief in his life combined with the sin of murder tarnished Aziraphale’s soul, turning him almost immediately into a hollow. He wandered France for over a hundred years, consuming souls in his endless depressive wandering. It was at the turn of the thirteenth century that Aziraphale discovered something. In his mindless sadness he turned on a fellow hollow and consumed him. It was then that he had a huge revelation. After eating the hollow, his grief had abated! However, the new happiness lasted only for hours before once again the crushing grief once again came down upon him. In desperation, Aziraphale ate another hollow, and another. Never wanting to feel the cold sadness again, he gave up the human soul diet in lieu of a more satisfying one.

It was only a matter of time before he fell upon one of the large feeding frenzies that occasionally happened. When the Menos erupted the other hollow were crushed by the grief, and Aziraphale was in control. He marveled at his new power; however it was nothing next to the grief. He continued to move on, consuming fellow Menos trying always to avoid the grief. Eventually he reached another level of power, concentrating down into a Adjuchas.

It was then that he had a new goal: Vasto Lorde. Maybe if he reached that power level the perpetual grief would fade away. He continued to consume other Adjuchas at an alarming rate, always running away from the sadness, always running. However, when he finally reached the heart of Hueco Mundo, and ate his final hollow, and compressed even further to the ultimate hollow power he discovered something horrible: the grief was stronger than ever!

It was then in his combination of grief and fury that he found the power to rip of his mask, and turn into a Arrancar. He was ecstatic: The new status diminished the grief until it was only as bad as it had been in life. He realized that the grief had been steadily growing his whole time as a hollow, and he was glad to be returned to a normal level. However even this small amount has kept him from ever truly being sadness free, except for the moment right after eating a hollow.

Eventually he stumbled upon Las Noches, and joined there in hopes of discovering a way to abandon his sadness forever.

Innate Ability:

Aziraphale has the ability to turn the tear masks on his face into shadow ravens, which can be sent anywhere within the world he is in. The ravens have no substance, and cannot be killed by any sort of power, however they possess no offensive abilities. They act as eyes and ears for Aziraphale so that he can always know what is going on.
